Much of my business comes from bankers’ referrals; bankers frustrated that their clients’ loan applications are often let down by poor quality financial forecasting.
Remember they always want to loan the money, but sometimes the numbers don’t convince. Banks want clear, well-presented figures that are above all transparent. They don’t want to dig around to understand how you came up with your sales projections, and if they're in doubt they will always believe them to be optimistic.
The right modelling techniques and presentation will show them immediately that your numbers have been properly thought through and my application and approach have been designed with this in mind. If you’re looking for equity funding you have the same issues, only more so.
Attracting investment is entirely about winning their hearts and minds (let's face it: you're not offering then guarantees or security) and you rarely get more than one shot at them. Theirs is overwhelmingly a financial viewpoint, and you need elegant, transparent, convincing financials from the off.
